DETAILED ITINERARY OF THE SAFARI
DAY 0: JOMO KENYATTA AIRPORT AND TRANSFER TO NAIROBI
You will leave from Nairobi for the first destination not later than 6 a.m. We recommend you to stay one night in Nairobi the day before your safari. You can use this time visiting the city and its main attractions: David Sheldrick Orphanage, Giraffe Centre and Karen Blixen Museum. Or you can just rest and refresh up after your flight. You will meet your guide/driver on the following day , leaving for the first destination.
DAY 1: AMBOSELI
This morning you leave Nairobi early and you travel to the famous Amboseli National Park. Everyone wants to experience the magnificent views over the border to Kilimanjaro, and feel the romantic atmosphere that comes from being in its presence.
The National Park has a thriving elephant population which sets you up for that ‘must have’ photograph in the foreground of the stunning snow-capped Mountain.
After morning game drive in the middle of elephant herds, you stop at the lodge for lunch and resting.
Afternoon game drive.
Dinner and overstay at the lodge (inside the park).
DAY 2: AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK
Wake early for another full day in this enchanting location.
Your days here will be spent marveling at the beauty of this breathtaking region, rising early with the sun for game drives followed by a full brunch prepared for you at camp.
Lunch and dinner at your camp.
DAY 3: NAIROBI NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, have a small game drive while you are heading to the Park exit and move to your next destination, Nairobi National Park, together with your guide.
You will reach it in the late morning.
This park is small but offers a large number of wildlife, including lions and the most endangered species : black and white rhinos!
These beautiful and majestic mammals are not present in all parks of Africa.. Nairobi National Park is one of the few protected areas which proudly host them.
You will do a game drive in the morning before to have lunch at a secluded luxury tented camp within the park: Nairobi tented camp.
Afternoon game drive until 18.00 p.m. , when the park closes, before to reach your accomodation in Nairobi for dinner and overstay.
DAY 4: MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE
This morning wake up early and transfer to one of the ‘Seven New Wonders of the World. The Masai Mara, home to the Great Wildebeest Migration, is arguably one of the most famous game reserves in the world.
You will reach Masai Mara entrance by late morning, and your camp by lunch after your first game drive in the park.
After lunch you can rest and then enjoy an afternoon game drive among the open grassy plains in search of cheetahs on a hunt or lions sleeping.
Dinner at your camp.
But you may decide to visit the exclusive Mara North Conservancy, instead Masai Mara National Reserve.
Mara North Conservancy is a protected area north of Masai Mara National Reserve, being part of the same ecosystem. It is run by local masai community and the rules here are less restrictive than within the National Reserve. It is a secluded and exclusive area, far away from mass tourism, because only those who stay in the limited number of camps and lodges in this area can visit it. Here infact you can drive off road, approching predators very closely, do walk safaris, have meals in the bush, do night game drives (here it is very common and easy to see predators on a hunt , because of the presence of big lion prides and because of off road permission). The only difference between Mara North Conservancy and the most famous Masai Mara National Reserve is that you will not be able to see the crossing of wildebeest and zebras on the Mara river within the conservancy, because wildlife don’t cross Mara River in the upper north, but you will see anyway big herds of animals on movement during migrations.
DAY 5: MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE
Today you have all the day to explore the Masai Mara in depth, with your personal guide.
During midday hours you can rest up in your tent and enjoy uninterrupted views over the river or over the plains, the perfect spot to quietly observe or contemplate the wilderness.
Between the months of July and October one million wildebeest, accompanied by vast numbers of zebra and gazelles, make the long and dangerous trek to this corner of Kenya. But if you visit Mara ecosystem during other periods, you will find a lot of wildlife anyway, with the highest concentration of herbivores and predators in all Kenya and Africa.
DAY 6: YOUR JOURNEY ENDS
It’s time to bid farewell to the bush.
After breakfast and a morning game drive you will go back to Nairobi in time to connect with your international flight or domestic flight to the coast for a Beach Holiday: you may stay at our exclusive Nyumba ya Paka Boutique Hotel.
You may decide to fly to Nairobi or to the coast, directly from one of the numerous Mara airstrip, instead to spend 5 hours or more on the road going back to Nairobi..
The indicative cost for 2023 on a 2 person basis in August is 3800 € per person, including the first night in Nairobi before departure.
