MERU NATIONAL PARK

Sheer Adventure at Meru National Park!

Few places are comparable to the remote and rugged atmosphere found here, a little visited and utterly unspoilt haven.

Brilliant on a magnificent scale, Meru features luxuriant jungles, coursing rivers, verdant swamps, khaki grassland and gaunt termite cathedrals all under the sky’s great blu bowl.

Meru doesn’t offer only amazing scenery and abundant wildlife, like elephants, lions, cheetahs, the rare Grevy’s zebra and hippo, but you can ask our expert guides to help you seek out the elusive black and white rhinos resident here.

It covers an area of 870 square km, east of Meru. This is the place where conservationists George and Joy Adamson raised Elsa the Lioness, made famous by the best selling book and award winning movie “Born Free”. Elsa is buried in this park and part of Joy’s ashes were scattered on her gravesite.

Its attractions include also the once home of Joy and George Adamson, Adamson’s Falls, stunning views of the nearby Mount Kenya, Tana River and Elsa’s gravesite.
